Book recommendation: Meet me… Georgia Toffolo

I started this post several times but didn’t seem to have saved it. I read these books during the summer, as they appeared perfect summer/beach reads, even though one of the books takes place close to or around the Christmas period. But some celebrate Christmas in July, so why not.

For a tourism graduate, this map is really sad and maybe the map together with the blog title is not ringing a bell. So let me tell you which books I’m recommending to you today, all by the same author Georgia Toffolo:

If you think about checking out this series, I give you 1 tip: start with the first one. The first one on my e-reader was “Meet me in Hawaii” and I hadn’t realized they were so interconnected. And this spoiled some parts of the first 2 books afterward for me.

My reading log for 2022 only consists of the title, author and date finished so forgive me if I leave something out or wrongly remember. However, I wanted to get this post out this year, before I forget entirely. And you just should read it for yourself to be able to correct me or see that I did remember correctly.

As I mentioned above, the stories are all connected in the way that each female protagonist in the book is part of a close friendship group since their early years in school. Their bond grew even stronger when they were in a terrible car accident at the end of high school. Now they are all in their late 20s and not so lucky in the love department.

In the first book, we meet Victoria bartender by day and an aspiring clothes designer working and living in Chelsea, London.  This is the book set close to Christmas. Will a fake engagement lead to a real relationship with Oliver, or will it be just a fairy tail? I actually stumbled upon the Chelsea Physic Garden, one of the locations in this book, on my last visit to London. However, I didn’t go in to see what plants or herbs are in there.

The second book brings us as the title indicates to Hawaii, where Malie fled for a fresh start. And while on the surface she has this fresh start, she is still holding herself back since the death of her brother. Will she find love in paradise once she meets Todd, owner of a charitable foundation that brings kids to Hawaii to learn how to surf. These surfing lessons take place in the surf school Malie works at.

And from one paradise to another, when we meet Zoe, who is for her job as a travel writer in Tahiti. What can go wrong with this assignment? Well maybe meeting an old flame, Finn, can ruin this work vacation. Or will it enhance the experience and will they rekindle their old friendship?

The last book brings us back to Devon, where they all grew up, and where we get the know the fourth musketeer better. Here we meet Lily who after living in London to attend culinary school went back to their hometown of Hawke’s Cove and owns her own restaurant there. She gets a lot of herbs from the Hawkesbury estate and the owner also agreed that one of the girl’s weddings could be held at the estate. However, when the estate’s owner dies, will his son Henry spoil everything, or will there be a happily ever after?

These books can be classified as typical chick-lit, hence I don’t want to give away too much of the story. If you think you would like these, go check out the blurb on Amazon or another book retailer. Also, the links posted above are as per usual, regular links and no affiliate links. I learned about these books via the newsletter of https://www.millsandboon.co.uk/

Tips to improve these book review/recommendation blog posts are always welcome, but remember to keep comments polite.

Hope you find some peace and quiet this Holiday Season to curl up with a nice book.
