Christmas gift (to myself)
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who is celebrating this holiday! In Belgium, we don’t have this holiday on our calendar. However, this means the month of November is almost over and it is time for the non-Grinches to start thinking about the next holiday, Christmas or Hanukkah.
Some of you want to count down to this holiday with an Advent calendar, and if you want the start down to begin on December 1st you will have to order today or tomorrow at the latest.
I got a reminder from The Body Shop (https://www.thebodyshop.com/en-gb/gifts/beauty-advent-calendars/c/c00259) in an email this morning. So, I’m publishing this blog just in the nick of time, despite having a draft saved already on September 26th.
As the title of this blog suggests, I did buy my advent calendar already. However, if Sinterklaas, our own Santa Klaus, wants to bring me another one I would like to add the mini or full version from HappySoaps (https://nl.happysoaps.com/collections/adventskalenders-2023/products/24-dagen-plasticvrije-adventskalender-full-size).
While the one from The Body Shop has nice things as well I’m trying to become less dependent on plastic bottles and be more sustainable. I’m not consistent yet but we keep on trying, the same as with Soda or other flavored drinks. Hence, I’ve been using Waterdrop for a couple of years. If you want to know more, check out this blog post (https://kateshabitat.com/?s=waterdrop).
Waterdrop has a small advent calendar, 25 little doors, and behind every door a single Waterdrop. And a large advent calendar with 25 other surprises, ranging from a box of 12 drops, over a taster pack of 3 drops, and other accessories, culminating in a bottle or tumbler on Christmas Eve (box 24). If you check out my post (https://kateshabitat.com/merry-christmas/) you see I kept the content hidden from the 2021 calendar but used the package for my Christmas cards. You could still do that with this year’s or last year’s box, more precisely the daily boxes, as the main box is made from sturdier material. It would be easier to reuse the box in its entirety and stuff the daily boxes with your gifts for loved ones.
On their website, https://eu.waterdrop.com/products/advent-calendar-large?variant=47006948852060 is a montage from what is in this year’s box, so watch out for spoiler alerts, and if even after this spoiler alert you are still on the fence let’s share what was in last year’s one.
The photograph from the title is from the 2023 calendar with its red and gold theme and the rest of the photos are from last year’s calendar.

I must admit, I already opened all the boxes of this year’s Advent calendar as soon as it was delivered, but repackaged it once I saw everything. That way I can enjoy the Advent calendar twice.
Are you team open all doors at once, or are you the patient type? And which Advent calendar do you or did you want to buy or receive?
