Welcome back!
Welcome back to my blog everyone. I wanted to get back on track with this blog at different moments in time but didn’t feel I had enough material to keep it going after the one idea was put out there.
I wrote this blog over a week ago so on top of finding ideas I also need to keep myself accountable to post them. Hence the publishing schedule may seem a bit random at times, while I figure out a rhythm for my posts.
Let’s catch up on what you all missed from my life in 2020. This isn’t much as the longer I’m working from home and limiting my social contacts I have developed a bad habit of staying in my own home for way too much time.
I stopped blogging right before my summer holidays. From the 2 weeks I had off I spend a midweek at Center Parcs De Haan. There is only 1 photograph from the vacation, my legs tanning after I settled into my cottage. The weather on Monday and Tuesday was still really nice and total summer weather. After checking in on Monday morning I went for a walk in the direction of Wenduine in search of some lunch. Enjoyed my lunch and the sunshine, I walked back to the cottage and settled in. Because I opted for a big cottage it had a deck right on the lake and soaked up more of the sun with a book. Not used to exercise anymore and the sun was out in full force again the next day I didn’t leave my lounge chair with the same or another book. The weather turned around on Wednesday, with less sun and a couple of degrees colder. As long as it was dry I wanted to get out and went for a walk along the beach a bit past De Haan city center and came back through the center. However, I didn’t have my face mask so I didn’t visit the market and stayed on the outskirt of town. Was back just in time before the rain started. Thursday was a couch and book day as there was more rain. On my last day, it was still raining, so after leaving the cottage I went to the aqua dome for a splash. Due to Covid lockers weren’t accessible and didn’t want to leave my tablet and mobile in the car, hence it was a short swim of about 1h30. When I came out of the pool it was still raining, which meant I drove directly home instead of going on a last walk.
In November Covid’s rules and regulations became stricter again. The day before I visited my sister and her family, but for the rest, I kept pretty much to my house and just went out for grocery shopping. Except for one of my off days when I went for a short walk in the provincial domain that I hadn’t been to in what I think was about 25 years and is only abound 5K away one way. Planned on doing both short loops, but only managed to do 3K. But it was pretty relaxing.
Nothing worth mentioning happened the rest of fall and winter. Spend Christmas eve and Christmas day with my parents. New Year’s eve was spent around a campfire with my sister, brother in law and the kids. My nephew stayed up until after midnight playing with 1 of his gifts. The rest of the gifts was passed around after a Christmas movie the next morning. Brunch with my parents again while watching the New Years’ concert on the television.
To close out the year 2020 I wanted to do my version of a top 20 of the year. But I didn’t even get a top 10.
- The only time I saw the interior of a theatre was in February for the musical “Annie”
- More birthday cards than other years
- A day at the beach in Scheveningen
- I saw my niece and nephew way too little but the times I had with them and my sister were precious. I went swimming in their temporary pool, we went on scavenger & Pokemon hunts. I had hoped to do more things with them but Covid and me being an enneagram type 5 didn’t make that happen.
- In this blog: the midweek Center Parcs & my walk in provincial domain “Kesselse Heide”.
Stay tuned for what happened in the first 8 months of 2021. Spoiler alert; not much. But I hope my next couple of blogs will be interesting. Don’t miss a couple of posts about books I recommend, studying, etc.
