    My Spotify listens

How is it that another month passed by. Physically I enter this new month a little lighter than the last but not much. The mental clarity and lightness varies day per day. Trying to keep it as positive as I can. But there is still a factor of job insecurity. And while I invited myself in my parents and sisters “bubble”, the uncertainty of when we can travel to the other side of the country (or our neighboring countries) for some beach or nature walks is weighing hard on certain days. One of the ways I try to stay positive is by not listening to the radio, I didn’t encounter…

    What I ate this week

I didn’t have a very active social life before this pandemic, however I thought I was doing some interesting things that I could make into a fun blogpost. It seems harder than it looks. I will try to do better the next weeks. The stress of this pandemic and the question: “Do I still have a job after this?” is weighing heavy on my mind and also literary on my body. I was all ready to start exercising again on May 11th when 2 days earlier I woke up with excruciating knee pain. This is still lingering even when doing a gentle walk for about 3 miles/5 kilometers. I stopped…

    At home manicure

Well I’m a bit late to posting this week.  I wasn’t really sure what my post would be about. There were plans to start clean eating and exercising and I also wanted to read more.  The last one was accomplished although it were mostly Harlequin/Mills & Boon romance novels. They are very good for escapism but not really interesting for a blog post. So I went back to my original idea for a blog post, namely home manicures and especially Gel lack nail polish. When I want gel nails I normally go to my cousin. But as she lives 40 minutes away (I know not the end of the world),…

    Goodbye April, hello May

Well I survived the first full month of shelter in place, soft-lockdown. Survived may sound a bit dramatic. But these last few weeks I often had the feeling I wasn’t really living but merely surviving. While on social media everybody seemed to be into home workouts, healthy eating and home schooling their children. This last with varying degrees of success. However routines were clearly established and everybody was striving for a better live. In the meantime I was struggling with all this. So at the beginning of April the plan was to get myself together and also try to make the best of this period. The first weekend of April…

    Virtual Escape rooms

Escape rooms can be a fun day out with family of friends. Picking the date when everyone is available, or in my case finding friends to go with, can be a challenge. Off course in this time of social distancing escape rooms are closed. But there are boxes that you can order to play one at home, or there are virtual escape rooms to discovered. This last one is just what I did last weekend. The first one I saw in a Facebook message was a Harry Potter themed one.  It is created by a librarian at Peters Township Public Library in McMurray, PA. Except for having to google a…

    Homemade greeting cards

Last week my mother had her birthday and the day before my parents celebrated their wedding anniversary.  I try to make the greeting cards myself each year.  But depending on time and mood, it doesn’t always happen.  However with the intention I set on my own birthday to send cards for every birthday during quarantine I couldn’t skip this year. Nevertheless I must admit that I didn’t follow trough on this for a couple of my cousins birthdays.  The reason for this was that I either didn’t have their correct address or date of birth. If they read this I apologize to them. The question that remained now was which…

    Quarantine reads

While World War II ended 75 years ago, this COVID 19 pandemic may feel like war for some people.  We can only leave home to buy necessities or go for a walk, jog, bike ride to clear our head. There is no limit on distance for these last activities here in Belgium. But this cabin fever and the images of hoarding and even fighting in some supermarkets is enough for some to draw the parallel with curfews and food shortages during the war.  However there are no bombs falling, no people are rounded up and send to concentration camps and we don’t need food stamps for our necessities. So to…

    Birthday in Covid19 lockdown

On March 29th I celebrated my 40th birthday. It was a birthday that before the Covid 19 pandemic was already weighing on me in terms of what have I achieved already and what I have to show for it. However the celebrations wouldn’t be any different than any other birthday. For about 10 years now it is tradition that I will go and watch a musical by myself. Sometimes I make a weekend out of in and sometimes it is just for one day and the other I will eat birthday cake with my family. This year it would have been a 4 day weekend at the beach town of…
